Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some general and specific questions our clients have asked.

General Questions about the inspection.

Below are some common questions people have about the home inspection.

What is a home inspection?

A home inspection is a visual inspection of the home.  The inspection is targeting the safety and operation of all major aspects of the home.  This inspection results in a detailed report that illustrates and explains all of the findings.

How long does and inspection take?

Inspections can range from  1 1/2 hours to 2 1/2 hours depending on the services chosen.

How much does a home inspection cost?

The base home inspection, called the structural inspection, runs $350.  Ancillary services will add to that cost.  Rest Assured prides itself on being competitively priced.

What if I have certain concerns with the property?

Rest Assured provides an initial phone interview about the property.  At that point you can certainly bring up any specific concerns you have and would like us to address.  Also at the time of inspection you may relay these concerns.

Specific Questions about the inspection.

Below are some specific questions people have about the inspection.

Is a Radon test necessary?

Radon is an odorless, invisible gas that can, over time, do harm to people.  This is particularly true in younger, still developing individuals.  Rest Assured uses the latest mapping data to investigate the property in advance based on its location.  We will let you know ahead of time if that particular area sees a low, moderate or higher then normal amount of Radon.  This will hopefully help you make a more informed decision.

Is a wood destroying insect inspection necessary?

Rest Assured highly recommends this additional inspection.  This inspection takes place at the same time as the structural inspection and therefore does not add any additional time to the overall inspection.  We look for damage that may be currently active as well as past damage that can erode the integrity of the home. This service is added to 95% of all inspections we conduct.

Do I have to be present at the time of inspection.

Although not necessary it is highly recommended that you be present for the inspection.  This is the best time to show you some of the areas we find that you may want to pay close attention to.  It is also a great time for the inspector to show you where major shut offs and other important areas of the home are.

How can I pay for the inspection?

Currently Rest Assured takes checks, cash or Venmo as forms of payment.

What happens if I have questions about the report after the inspection.

Customer service is everything to Rest Assured.  We are available via phone, text or email to answer any questions you may have.
